I cant remember the title of this book i am looking for that i read about ten years ago can you help?

it is about best friends who go to either greece or rome i cant remeber but they are with the one girls family. while they are there she meets this guy and they go off into the water and find an island with all kinds of mythical greed god artifacts she grabs one that is a hollow glass statue of a girl. the friend gets jealous and tries to kill her friend by putting tiny pieces of glass in her burgers well the friend only eats one and the boy eats the other so both of them are bleeding internally from the glass...then the hollow glass artifact starts filling up with a red liquid kind of how their insides would look like and it ends up being the cure for the internal bleeding but there is only enough for one of them and he lets her drink it so she can live. its a really good book and im hopeing that somebody can tell me the title...its a romance novel based on the greek gods please helpI cant remember the title of this book i am looking for that i read about ten years ago can you help?
