Islands is fine.. the food is pretty good, and the decor is lively... their bar is good too.
NO-It is my kids' favorite restaraunt....enough said. Pick somewhere more unique %26amp; less family-friendly.....maybe like a neighborhood Brewing Co. restaurant or something.Anyone think "Islands Burgers" would be a fun place for a first date? (We live in Los Angeles)?
Sure, why not?
But why not try something like Canter's or Fred 62 or Bosa Nova?
They are fun and funky with good original food, whereas Islands is a chain.
I think Islands is a little too family-ish. Also, I don't know if I'd want to sit in front of my date (on a first date while I'm trying my hardest to make a great impression) stuffing a burger down my throat! I suppose they have salads, too, but who wants to have a salad for dinner?
How about going to an ethnic place that neither of you have been to and that way the menu, ordering, etc will give you lots to talk about. You could try walking around Little Ethiopia (I'd recommend Rosalinds) or Thai Town, Chinatown...or in LA and all with great food.
Hope you have a great time, whether it be at Islands or somewhere else.
it is a nice place very casual so if u wanted something fancy no i wouldn't recomend it but it is very casual so it is a nice place for some great food drinks and get to know each other . HAVE FUN ( when i lived in LA i used to go there all the time very cool place and great food)
no please...
Go to Duke's in Malibu. Right on PCH and right on the water. Go to the Barefoot Bar. The tables are first come first serve. They have the same type of food as Islands but better (and about the same price). It is a casual, fun atmosphere. You can valet park or I always park on PCH with no problems---there is plenty of parking there.
Very nice, hip food-
